17th June - With just one round of games to go, qualifying in Africa is really beginning to take shape as six nations qualify for the final round following the latest qualifiers.

In Group A Ethiopia knocked out 2010 hosts South Africa with a 2-1 win in Addis Ababa. A point in Equatorial Guinea was enough for Tunisia to advance from Group B, while Ivory Coast cruised through Group C with a 4-2 win in Tanzania.

Ghana go through in Group D courtesy of a 2-0 win in Lesotho and are joined in the final round by Egypt who maintained their 100% record in Group G thanks to a 1-0 win in Mozambique. Finally in Group H Algeria's narrow 1-0 win in Rwanda was enough to see them win the group with one game to spare.

26th March - European qualifying continues and there is no doubt where the biggest game was tonight as Spain faced France in Group I. Spain had slipped up at the weekend against Finland but there were no such problems tonight as a second half Pedro goal gave the World Cup holders all three points in Saint-Denis.

Elsewhere, the top two sides in Group H clashed as England travelled to Montenegro. Wayne Rooney's early goal was cancelled out by a Damjanovic tap-in as the points were shared.

Belgium and Croatia are nine points clear in Group A as both recorded narrow wins over Macedonia and Wales respectively.

22nd March - 2014 World Cup qualifying resumes in Europe - And there was a shock in Group I as 2010 World Cup winners Spain were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Finland. The result now gives France the upper hand before next week's top of the table showdown as they won 3-1 against Georgia.

Germany and the Netherlands power ahead in Group C and Group D respectively as both recorded 3-0 wins. Russia's match against Northern Ireland in Group F was a victim of the wintry conditions hitting the UK, but neither Israel nor Portugal could take advantage as they shared the spoils - and six goals - in Ramat Gan.

The top of the table clash in Group G saw Bosnia-Herzegovina overcome Greece to take a three point cushion into the summer fixtures while in Group H, England hammered an abject San Marino 8-0 but were prevented from going top of the table with Montenegro winning by a single goal with a late Vucinic strike in Moldova.

A full programme in South America qualifying saw Uruguay take a late lead at home to bottom side Paraguay with a Luis Suarez goal - before throwing away all three points with four minutes left as the game finished 1-1. Argentina march on to Brazil following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Venezuela and now need only three more wins from their last six to guarantee qualification. In other games Colombia took a major step towards the finals with a 5-0 thrashing of Bolivia and Peru kept alive their slim chance of an automatic berth with a 1-0 home win over Chile.

The USA bounced back from an opening day defeat with a 1-0 win over visitors Costa Rica while the other two games were deadlocked. A remarkable game in Group C saw Germany go 4-0 up against Sweden before collapsing in the final half hour to give the Swedes a point in a 4-4 draw.
