15th October - 2014 World Cup qualifying concludes in Europe, South America and CONCACAF.
Russia, England, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Spain all qualify for Brazil with the eight best second placed nations in Europe advancing to the European play-offs.
The draw for the European play-offs will take place on October 21st in Zurich.
In South America, Uruguay must face an intercontinental play-off against Jordan, as Chile and Ecuador finish 3rd and 4th respectively in the final group table.
Panama conceded two injury time goals to lose 3-2 to the USA allowing Mexico to squeak through to the intercontinental play-off against New Zealand with Honduras securing qualification in third place.
14th October - African final round qualifying underway. The first leg matches have begun in the final round of World Cup qualifiers in Africa. The two legged play-offs will determine the five qualifiers from the African continent.

In South America qualifiers, Colombia came from 3-0 down against Chile to get the point they needed to seal their place at next year's showcase.
16th September - Draw made in Africa for the final qualifying round. The ten qualifiers from Round 2 have been drawn in five two legged play-off fixtures to determine Africa's five representatives at the World Cup in Brazil. Find all fixtures for the final qualifying round in Africa below.
10th September - Costa Rica and the USA have qualified for the 2014 World Cup from CONCACAF. Goals from Eddie Johnson and Landon Donovan gave The Stars and Stripes a 2-0 victory over Mexico while Costa Rica picked up the point they needed in a 1-1 draw in Jamaica.
Argentina booked their place in Brazil tonight with a 5-2 thumping of Paraguay in Asuncion. The South American group is very tight now with just four points separating 2nd and 5th place. The top four qualify, with fifth place playing Asia play-off winner Jordan for a place in the finals.

8th September - All the important results are in in Africa and previous World Cup stars Cameroon are the last African nation to make it to the final round in Africa. A tense final match against leaders Libya ended 1-0 to the Indomitable Lions and sees them join Ethiopia, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and Senegal in the play-off round.

6th September - After tonight's games there are now only three rounds of fixtures to go in Europe and several teams are on the brink of qualifying for Brazil. Belgium are only a point away from qualifying after a 2-0 win in Scotland in Group A. Italy need only 2 more points in Group B following a 1-0 win over closest rivals Bulgaria.
In Group C, Germany are five points clear with three games left as they beat Austria 3-0. Despite a shock 2-2 draw in Estonia, only achieved through a stoppage time penalty from Robin Van Persie, Holland still look a shoe in for Brazil with a six point lead in Group D.
Switzerland shared eight goals with Iceland in Group E but still enjoy a four point cushion while Spain look to have finally shaken off France in Group I - needing only one more win to book a place at the final stages.

South America World Cup qualification is approaching its conclusion and Colombia and Chile took massive strides towards Brazil last night as both secured home victories. Uruguay are still sweating on an automatic place despite a 2-1 win in Peru.
In the CONCACAF region the USA gave up top spot after going down 3-1 in Costa Rica while Honduras shocked Mexico 2-1 in Mexico City to jump into third place.
18th June - Phew! Australia squeezed past Iraq today to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The Socceroos struggled against the bottom side in Group B of Asian qualifying before substitute Josh Kennedy stepped up on 83 minutes to score the vital goal as the Aussies join Japan in the final stages.
Elswhere in Asia, Iran and South Korea booked a place at the 2014 World Cup finals from Group A. Iran beat South Korea 1-0, but Uzbekistan needed to beat Qatar by seven clear goals to qualify - and miss out despite thumping the 2022 World Cup hosts 5-1.
17th June - With just one round of games to go, qualifying in Africa is really beginning to take shape as six nations qualify for the final round following the latest qualifiers.
In Group A Ethiopia knocked out 2010 hosts South Africa with a 2-1 win in Addis Ababa. A point in Equatorial Guinea was enough for Tunisia to advance from Group B, while Ivory Coast cruised through Group C with a 4-2 win in Tanzania.
Ghana go through in Group D courtesy of a 2-0 win in Lesotho and are joined in the final round by Egypt who maintained their 100% record in Group G thanks to a 1-0 win in Mozambique. Finally in Group H Algeria's narrow 1-0 win in Rwanda was enough to see them win the group with one game to spare.
7th June - A busy weekend in World Cup qualifying sees matches played in Europe, CONCACAF, South America and Africa. Follow all the results as they happen.
4th June - Japan become the first nation to join hosts Brazil as they qualified for the 2014 World Cup. A penalty in injury time from Keisuke Honda gave the home side the point they needed against Australia in Group B of Asia qualifiers - leaving the Socceroos sweating on a place in the top two in the group, as Oman beat Iraq to go two points clear in second.
Group A remains too close to call, with the top three sides separated by a point. Iran beat hosts Qatar 1-0 while South Korea could only muster a draw in Lebanon.
There were two games in Africa today in Group 6 of African qualifying. Nigeria warmed up for the Confederations Cup with a 1-0 win in Kenya while Namibia and Malawi drew a blank in a 0-0 draw in Blantyre.
In CONCACAF qualifying there was one qualifier today as Jamaica and Mexico fought out a goalless draw in Kingston.
26th March - European qualifying continues and there is no doubt where the biggest game was tonight as Spain faced France in Group I. Spain had slipped up at the weekend against Finland but there were no such problems tonight as a second half Pedro goal gave the World Cup holders all three points in Saint-Denis.
Elsewhere, the top two sides in Group H clashed as England travelled to Montenegro. Wayne Rooney's early goal was cancelled out by a Damjanovic tap-in as the points were shared.
Belgium and Croatia are nine points clear in Group A as both recorded narrow wins over Macedonia and Wales respectively.
22nd March - 2014 World Cup qualifying resumes in Europe - And there was a shock in Group I as 2010 World Cup winners Spain were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Finland. The result now gives France the upper hand before next week's top of the table showdown as they won 3-1 against Georgia.
Germany and the Netherlands power ahead in Group C and Group D respectively as both recorded 3-0 wins. Russia's match against Northern Ireland in Group F was a victim of the wintry conditions hitting the UK, but neither Israel nor Portugal could take advantage as they shared the spoils - and six goals - in Ramat Gan.
The top of the table clash in Group G saw Bosnia-Herzegovina overcome Greece to take a three point cushion into the summer fixtures while in Group H, England hammered an abject San Marino 8-0 but were prevented from going top of the table with Montenegro winning by a single goal with a late Vucinic strike in Moldova.
A full programme in South America qualifying saw Uruguay take a late lead at home to bottom side Paraguay with a Luis Suarez goal - before throwing away all three points with four minutes left as the game finished 1-1. Argentina march on to Brazil following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Venezuela and now need only three more wins from their last six to guarantee qualification. In other games Colombia took a major step towards the finals with a 5-0 thrashing of Bolivia and Peru kept alive their slim chance of an automatic berth with a 1-0 home win over Chile.
The final round in CONCACAF qualifying is underway and things remain tight in the early stages. The USA bounced back from an opening day defeat with a 1-0 win over visitors Costa Rica while the other two games were deadlocked. Panama held Jamaica to a 1-1 draw in Kingston and a Javier Hernandez brace was not enough to beat Honduras as the home side came from behind twice to take a point against Mexico.
6th February - The fourth and final round in CONCACAF kicked off today with the final six nations all playing in the first round of fixtures. Honduras took an early lead in the group with a 2-1 home win against the USA. Mexico fought out a goalless draw with Jamaica in Mexico City while Panama and Costa Rica drew 2-2.
14th November - Asian World Cup qualifying breaks for the winter - and it's Japan who will be happiest over the winter as they stretched their lead in Group B to 8 points with a 2-1 win in Oman. Group A provided a shock as Uzbekistan travelled to Tehran to beat Iran 1-0. Group A is too close to call with the next fixtures in March 2013.
There were two games in Europe tonight and Montenegro go top of Group H after a comfortable home win over whipping boys San Marino. In Group F, Northern Ireland left it late to grab a point at home to Azerbaijan. David Healy's equaliser came in the 96th minute as the game finished 1-1.
16th October - Another round of World Cup qualifiers were played tonight in Europe, although there was no game in Warsaw where Poland were supposed to meet England in Group H. The match was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and will now be played tomorrow (Wednesday 17th). Montenegro capitalised with an impressive 1-0 win over Ukraine in Kiev.
A remarkable game in Group C saw Germany go 4-0 up against Sweden before collapsing in the final half hour to give the Swedes a point in a 4-4 draw.
The Netherlands won the top of the table clash in Group D, thumping hosts Romania 4-1. Elsewhere in the group, Turkey look in real trouble after going down 3-1 in Hungary and are now 9 points off the top of the table.
The biggest game of the night was played in Madrid where Spain faced France in Group I. A 25th minute goal from Sergio Ramos gave the hosts the lead - but Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud struck deep in stoppage time to give the French a share of the spoils.

In South America, Argentina are now three points clear at the top of the group after a 2-1 win in Chile and Uruguay's woes continued with a 4-1 thrashing in Bolivia.
Round three in the CONCACAF region is now over with six nations qualifying for the final round. Honduras demolished Canada 8-1 to book their place in the final round where they will be joined by Mexico, USA, Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica.
The fourth round of qualifying Asia is at the half way point, and Australia can feel very lucky to be sitting second in Group B after coming from behind to beat Iraq 2-1 in Doha. With the scores locked at 0-0, Lucas Neill received a yellow card when a red looked more likely - and with two goals in the last 10 minutes, the Socceroos came from behind to bag all three points.
In Group A South Korea hold on to top spot despite a 1-0 loss to Iran, and Uzbekistan jump two places to third with a 1-0 win in Qatar.
12th October - There was a full round of qualifiers in Europe tonight and the European tournament is slowly beginning to take shape. In Group A, Belgium laid down a marker with an impressive 3-0 victory in Serbia. In Group D, Romania travelled to Turkey and came away with all three points thanks to Gheorghe Grozav's goal in first half stoppage time.
In the big clash in Group F, Russia came out on top with a 1-0 win over Portugal, while in Group G's top of the table clash, hosts Greece and Bosnia-Herzegovina fought out a goalless draw in Piraeus. In Group H, England capitalised on Ukraine dropping points in Moldova, to go three points clear after a comfortable victory at Wembley over San Marino.

The big clash in South America saw Argentina blow away Uruguay thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi and a close range tap in from Sergio Aguero. Ecuador continued their impressive record in World Cup qualifiers with a 3-1 win over Chile while Paraguay have tailed off in the group, following their sixth defeat in eight games in Colombia.
CONCACAF World Cup qualifying is drawing to a close with only Mexico assured of a place in the final qualifying round. The last round of fixtures in Round 3 will see five more nations take their place in the final round with.

In Oceania the final round of qualifying is underway. New Zealand and New Caledonia kicked off their respective campaigns with comfortable wins over The Solomon Islands and Tahiti.

CONCACAF qualifying continues with twelve nations remaining across three groups. Jamaica upset the USA in Group 1, while Mexico look comfortable in Group 2 as the only country with a 100% record in round 3.
13th June - All of the summer World Cup qualifier results are in. The game of the day in Asia saw Australia and Japan share the spoils in Brisbane. But referee Khalil Al Ghamdi is unlikely to be very welcome in Tokyo after a bizarre refereeing performance helped drag the under pressure Aussies back into the game. Despite the draw, Japan still go five points clear in Group B as Iraq could only draw with Oman in Doha.
In Group A in Asia, South Korea sit top after maintaining their 100% record at home to Lebanon. Iran huffed and puffed against Qatar but couldn't break the 0-0 stalemate in Tehran - and now sit two points behind the leaders.

10th June - South America breaks for the summer - and following the latest qualifying games, Chile sit top of the South American World Cup qualifying group after away wins in Bolivia and Venezuela. Paraguay have qualified for the last four World Cups but appear to be in real trouble this time around after a disappointing defeat in Bolivia - and now sit second from bottom in the group. There is still a long way to go however and the next fixtures will get underway in September.

8th June - The second round of games has been completed in Asia. Round 4 of Asia World Cup qualifying features two groups of five and South Korea got their campaign underway with a 4-1 thumping of Qatar. The win sees the 2002 World Cup co-hosts leap to the top of Group A on goal difference.
In Group B Australia played out a drab 0-0 draw against Oman in Muscat, while Japan top the group after hammering Jordan 6-0.
3rd June - Round 4 qualifying is now underway in Asia with 10 nations fighting for four places at the Brazil World Cup. The teams are split into two groups and the qualifying process will not be decided until June 2013. For all latest results and fixture dates follow the links below.

1st June - Second round qualifying kicks off over the weekend and the first results are in. Ghana overcame a floodlight failure and visitors Lesotho to notch up a comfortable 7-0 win in Kumasi in Group D, while Egypt beat Mozambique 2-0 in Group G. Second round qualifying in Oceania got underway at the OFC Nations Cup in the Solomon Islands which doubles as the 2014 Oceania World Cup qualifying tournament. The tournament will be played over nine days in Honiara with the winner advancing to the 2013 Confederations Cup. The top four from the OFC Nations Cup will advance to Oceania third round qualifying. 9th March - Draw made in Asia for round 4 of World Cup qualifying. Ten nations qualified for round 4 in Asia and the draw was made today to split the qualifiers into two groups of five.

29th February - The final round of fixtures in round 3 of Asian qualifying were played today and there were goals galore as already qualified Iraq thumped Singapore 7-1 in Group A. Bahrain demolished Indonesia 10-0 in Group E but it wasn't enough to make the next round as Qatar equalised four minutes from time in Iran to get the point they needed to advance. Oman leapfrogged Saudi Arabia in Group D with a 2-0 home win over Thailand, and in Group B it was Lebanon who squeezed through despite defeat in the United Arab Emirates.

15th November - Argentina came from behind to get back to winning ways in Colombia with Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero scoring second half goals in a 2-1 win. Ecuador moved into the automatic qualification places with a 2-0 win over Peru in Quito, while Chile and Venezuela jump up the table with wins over Paraguay and Bolivia respectively.
Australia and Iran advance to the fourth round of Asian World Cup qualifying with wins against Thailand and Indonesia respectively. It's all still to play for in Group B however as South Korea were shocked by Lebanon. With only one round of games left next February, four places have yet to be claimed with Group B, Group D and Group E going down to the wire.
Africa preliminary fixtures have almost been completed and with just one fixture to come today the second round groups are all but decided.

11th November 2011 - Argentina struggled once again in South American World Cup qualifying as they were held 1-1 at home to bottom side Bolivia. Uruguay top the group after Liverpool's Luis Suarez hit all four goals as the two time winners demolished Chile 4-0. In other games Colombia and Venezuela played out a 1-1 draw while Paraguay edged out Ecuador 2-1 in Asuncion.
It's all over bar the shouting in the second qualifying round in the CONCACAF region with all six group winners being decided with a round of matches to spare. Asian qualifying is really taking shape now and there was joy and pain today as Jordan, Iraq, Japan and Uzbekistan all made it through to the fourth round. But China and 2010 qualifiers North Korea are out after both were beaten by a single goal. Africa World Cup qualifying kicked off today with the preliminary round first leg matches getting underway. Liberia are already through after Mauritius withdrew so there are 11 spots left for the group stage.
11th October - South America's second round of games threw up a shock as Venezuela toppled Argentina 1-0 in Puerto la Cruz. A repeat of the 2011 Copa America final saw Paraguay and Uruguay share the honours in Asuncion, while Chile climbed of the bottom of the group table with a 4-2 win over Peru. Colombia kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 win in Bolivia and now all thoughts move to November with two match days to look forward to.
CONCACAF second round qualifying is moving to the business end now and Panama become the first nation to progress to the third round with a 5-1 thumping of Nicaragua in Group C. With only two games left in the second round, there are more nations out of contention than in with a shout of a place with the big names in round three.

Peru and Ecuador began their qualifying campaigns with three points with each nation bagging a 2-0 win over Paraguay and Venezuela respectively.

2nd September - The third round of World Cup qualifying is underway in Asia and the first round of fixtures have been completed in the five groups. South Korea were most impressive, beating Lebanon 6-0.
Japan needed a stoppage time winner to get past North Korea in Group C while Australia narrowly beat Thailand to go top of Group D.
Iran breezed past Indonesia 3-0 in Group E and sit top with a two point lead after 2022 World Cup hosts Qatar played out a 0-0 draw with Bahrain.

29th July - The second round of Asia World Cup qualifying is over and fifteen nations have qualified for the third round and the World Cup draw on Saturday.
There were no major shocks in the second round, although Palestine almost pulled off a memorable victory over Thailand, before an equaliser deep in stoppage time saved the Thai blushes and ensured they advanced 3-2 on aggregate.
There was controversy in Myanmar as the match against Oman was abandoned after 40 minutes due to crowd trouble. The visitors had just gone 2-0 up after a controversial penalty was converted when the crowd turned its anger on the referee. Bottles and rocks were thrown onto the pitch and proceedings were called to a halt as the players and officials ran for cover.
18th July - The first round of qualifiers in North and Central America (CONCACAF) has been completed with five nations qualifying for the second round - taking their place in the World Cup draw at the end of the month. Belize put their problems with FIFA behind them and completed an 8-3 aggregate win over Montserrat to join the Dominican Republic, the US Virgin Islands, St. Lucia and the Bahamas in the second round. All eyes are now on Rio de Janeiro on the 30th July when the next round of fixtures will be decided.
3rd July - The first round of 2014 World Cup qualifying in Asia is over - and there were some extraordinary games to get the competition underway. Laos pulled off the result of the round, beating Cambodia 6-2 after extra time to reverse a 4-2 defeat in the first leg. Their reward in the second round is a two legged tie against the might of China.
Vietnam continued their high scoring start with a huge 7-1 win over Macau. Vietnam striker Le Cong Vinh hit four goals to add to his first leg hat-trick as he takes an early lead in the World Cup qualifiers scoring charts.
History was made in Palestine as the first ever World Cup qualifier was played in the troubled nation. 9000 fans turned out as the hosts held visitors Afghanistan 1-1 to ensure their progress with a 3-1 aggregate win - and a match against Thailand in round 2.
29th June - 2014 World Cup qualifying got underway today in Asia with a full program of first round qualifiers. It's a long way to Brazil from here for the lowest ranked nations in Asia, but that didn't stop 45,000 fans turning up in Kuala Lumpur to see Malaysia beat Chinese Taipei 2-1.
In Ho Chi Min City a crowd of 20,000 saw hosts Vietnam brush Macau aside 6-0.
Timor-Leste have perhaps the hardest task in round 1 Asian World Cup qualifying - they must come back from a 2-1 deficit against Nepal in the second leg, and must also play both games away from home due to a lack of football infrastructure in East Timor.
15th June 2011 - The first match of the 2014 World Cup qualifying process was played today when Montserrat hosted Belize in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. The match was held in Trinidad and Tobago in front of a crowd of just 100 people - and there was no shortage of goals as Belize thumped their hosts 5-2. Belizean striker Deon McCauley became the first player to score in the competition - going on to complete his hat-trick for the visitors.
The second leg of the tie has since been postponed, and Belize have been suspended by FIFA due to 'severe interference' from the Belizean government. If the problems are not resolved and the game cannot be played by July 10th, Belize will be kicked out of the competition.

The 20th FIFA World Cup will be held in Brazil. Matches will be played across 12 host cities with the final set for the famous Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Brazil qualify automatically for the tournament as hosts where they will be joined by 31 teams via the qualifying process.
