2014 World Cup qualifiers - Africa (CAF)   

The qualifying format for World Cup qualifying in Africa was announced on 16th May 2011.

52 African nations will be fighting it out for one of the five available slots for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

All fixtures will be decided at the main 2014 World Cup draw in Rio de Janeiro on 30th July 2011.

Qualifying in Africa will be three round process:

Round One of African 2014 World Cup qualifying

The 24 lowest ranked teams in Africa will be drawn into 12 two-legged knockout ties with the 12 winners advancing to the second round. The first round ties are scheduled to begin in November 2011.

Round Two of African 2014 World Cup qualifying

In the second round, the twelve qualifiers from the first round will join the 28 highest ranked nations in Africa. These 40 nations will then be split into 10 groups of four. The group games will be played on a round robin basis home and away. Each nation that tops their group will qualify for the third round.

Round three of African 2014 World Cup qualifying

In the third round, the 10 qualifiers from the second round will be drawn into five two-legged knockout ties with the five winners qualifying for the 2014 World Cup final stages.
