2014 World Cup qualifying   

31 nations will be vying to join hosts Brazil in the 2014 World Cup final stages. Qualifiers will be broken down and played amongst the member countries of the 6 confederations.

In Europe, UEFA World Cup qualifying will offer 13 places. Group phase European World Cup qualifiers are scheduled to kick off on 7th September 2012 and will run until October 2013. The knockout phase will be played in November 2013.

Africa will provide 5 qualifiers from the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The second round group phase in Africa gets underway in June 2012 and will be completed in early September 2013.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has been allocated 4 places with a further opportunity to qualify through a play-off. The first and second round qualifying draw was made in Kuala Lumpur on 30th March 2011.

Third round qualifying begins in Asia on 2nd September and will be completed at the end of February.

In South America, CONMEBOL will add 4 teams to hosts Brazil to make a representation of 5. One extra place is available through a play-off meaning South America could provide a total of 6 places. South American qualifiers begin on 7th October 2011 and run until 15th October 2013.

North and Central America and the Caribbean will have 3 available spots plus a further one available through a play-off. The first round qualifying draw was made on 26th April 2011. The second round in the CONCACAF region will run from early September 2011 through to mid November.

The top team in Oceania must play a play-off to determine if the Oceania Football Confederation will be represented in the tournament. The first round will take place between 21st and 26th November. The second round is scheduled for 1st to 12th June 2012 as part of the 2012 OFC Nations Cup.

The qualifying draw took place in Rio de Janeiro on the 30th July 2011. All qualifying dates and fixture timetables will appear here as soon as the draw is made.
